“STRICKEN, SMITTEN, AND AFFLICTED…FOR US”

It is one of the most clearly prescient (prophetically depictive) texts in all the Old Testament: Isaiah 53. From it, some of the most visually-enduring images of our suffering Servant-Savior have come to us. It has inspired the pen of Apostles, and has moved countless hymnists to paint in musical poetry the eternal truth—that “the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all” (Is. 53:6).

Join us for our Midweek Lenten services—
Wednesdays, 7:30-8:15 p.m.
March 9 through April 13

The Lenten Season begins with the ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE
with Holy Communion on Wed., March 9. A service in which God’s Word — through the Scripture readings, the sermon and the hymns—creates within us a contrite heart eager to receive the forgiveness and strength God gives through the very Body and Blood of Christ which was once ‘stricken, smitten, and afflicted…FOR US.”

Prior to each Lenten service [except the Ash Wed. service] a SOUP SUPPER is hosted in the Parish Hall from 6:15-7:15 p.m. Would you volunteer to bring a soup on a Wed. to serve 10-12 people? If so, sign-up on the narthex Soup Supper sign-up chart or call the Church Office. Soups should be to the Parish Hall kitchen by 6:05. Thanks.
